ESPN is a global media company with a history of covering the Olympics.
The company, which also owns Fox Sports, will not be in full control of the 2018 games, but it is the company that will control the coverage.
The Olympics have become a major media event in the United States, with the 2016 games becoming the first to draw more than 200 million viewers.
This year, the events have been dominated by the United Kingdom and China, both of which are trying to regain their footing in the world’s second-largest economy after a year of economic stagnation.
Britain’s bid for a 2020 Olympic and Paralympic gold medal was put on hold after it was revealed that the British government had offered to take over the 2018 event from the Olympic and Commonwealth Games.
China, on the other hand, is aiming to compete for the first time in a decade.
“The Games are not just about sports and politics, but also about global development and the future of humanity,” said ESPN president John Skipper.
